My latest frugal find allows me to start my well planned vegetable garden – apartment style.I have seen a number of ‘raised bed garden kits’ at my local garden supply shop and the internet.Being ‘Queen of Frugal’ in this current chapter of my life,I could not possibly part with the crazy amount of money they are asking for a pine wood box.I have scoured the streets for weeks looking for the elusive wooden pallet that may have been discarded, thinking I might grab a hammer and nail and make my own!
Having no luck in finding any discarded pellets,I thought I had better submit and buy a kit to start my Spring vegetable garden – apartment style. Then I discovered this incredible pine packing box at my sister’s house.Destined for the dump I rescued this little beauty to be re-used and recycled.
Watch this space as I magically transform this packing crate into a stunning raised bed vegetable garden – apartment style!
All that is needed now a quick paintjob to fit into my townhouse/apartment life and an old sack, some good quality friable potting mix combined with some great fertilizers.A good soak, some vege seedlings and some mulch.

Creative talents I never knew I had, have been surfacing lately.Getting a Sewing Machine has been the best personal happening this year!Discovering YouTube videos showing you how to make things has been unbelievable.Even a craft retard like me can’t go wrong! Here’s a “Patchwork Rag Rug” I have started making.
In an effort to staying true to my newly found frugal lifestyle,I used recycled from a bag of rags given to me and padding from an old pillow. If I can do it so can you!Get off that lounge and away from the television and give it a go.You’ll be surprised at what you can create.

OMG – I am usually the least likely person to do craft work. All of my life I may have started the odd project or ten,but have rarely taken any craft project to completion. That’s with the exception of the annual Winter scarves for the kids to wear to the local Show. Something inside me has changed. I am determined to challenge myself and try new things. One of my new goals is to see all of my projects through to completion.I want to see what I can do! Surprisingly my inner creative Goddess has come forth and I’m loving making unique things for our little ‘ol home.
Recently on a visit to the Supreme Craft Creator,my Mother gave me this little Button Doll Kit to make.No machine needed.I had great fun and it occupied a cold Saturday afternoon. She fits in beautifully in my Shabby Chic Bedroom.Grab a craft kit or download a craft project and get busy being creative this weekend!
