Warm your home with alternative lighting!
Forget about carbon tax and expensive electricity bills!Turn off your ceiling lights and get back to candles and lamps.Excellent for a warm ambient Winter feeling.Candlelight has a place in our modern society again as people get back to basics and try to cut down on skyrocketing electricity bills.Tealight candle holders are relatively safe and tealights are cheap and inexpensive. They usually only last an hour or two then self extinguish – which is a bonus.Tealights also come in scented varieties,so not only will your home be warm and inviting,it will also smell wonderful.
Lamps also cast a warm winter glow in your rooms and they are far cheaper than the cost of overhead lights with higher wattage.Lamps come in all shapes and sizes and are a great decorating addition. The trick is to turn off at the wall when not in use.If you rub some essential oils on the top of the light bulb in the lamp it will flood the room with scent when you turn on it on.
Our bodies need to wind down at night with dim lighting. We are animals and are biologically meant to relax and sleep after dark, not be exposed to high wattage electrical lighting!Do your body a favour and try using candles and lamps for household lighting and see what effect it has on your home life and health.

A Vintage Feel to Frugal (...or the trend of less is more).
Reblogged from Bealtaine Cottage:

An empowering exercise that allows one to see the beauty of less is more...
Despite the trend of pretending to have little, distressing perfectly good furniture to add a vintage look and working hard to create a 'country, frugal feel,' to one's home, the reality of actually living this way is liberating!
At Bealtaine Cottage, money is not an option...living a frugal life is the only way to go and the rewards are immense.

Women with Tattoos!
We are fast becoming a family of tattooed women – shhh – don’t tell Grandma!Due to being a product of my generation I had to wait until my early thirties before tattoos became even mildly acceptable on heterosexual career gals like me.To solve my dilemna,I have all my ink art on my back.
Luckily, the freedom bestowed upon my daughter’s generation by older feminists like me,has paved the way for them to be tattooed and be accepted in any profession they choose!Thank God!
This is my beautiful older daughter ZiZi,who is a second year Engineering Student who surfs, skates and plays soccer. This is her third tattoo and she loves it and so do I!She is 19 and works part-time and is achieving Honours in a field of 200 students and she is one of three females in this Degree!

Funky Table Centre Pieces!
Your home is your castle and a reflection of your personality and lifestyle. As the older two children have flown the coup and the younger two and I have done a ‘city-change’ to Town House living,we have had to scale down our furniture.Due to life circumstances,I have been creating a new and upbeat feeling in our home on a very tight budget.
Whilst staying true to an eclectic style of decorating,I have been trying to be minimalist and modern in my approach.Frugal is turning out to be quite fun! Here are two beautiful candle holders, which were unused and found at Vinnies for $3.00 each. The beautiful glass fruit bowl was $7.00,also at Vinnies. The woven table runner a mere $3.47 on sale at Crazy Clarkes. The hand painted coasters were $2.oo for the set of six at the Rocklea Markets. What a great look!
